Food: meals of the week

I’m having a lot of fun trying new dishes lately, I guess you’re enjoying reading them, aren’t you? 😉

Stir-fry veggies (onion, brussel sprouts, asparagus, spinach, tofu) with Tj’s thai sauce, served with brown rice

I used to love this sauce, I could eat it everyday, so I got it again. Unfortunately I was not obsessed with it this time.

笋烧肉 (red sauced pork with bamboo), my mom’s favorite

IMG_6975

black chicken soup with black fungus and shiitake mushroom, a very nutritious soup that I have at least once a month.

IMG_6976

mung bean sprouts sautéed with chili, a recent favorite dish of mine

IMG_6977

the usual suspect, sautéed bok choy

a usual dinner at home

Sauteed yam with chili and pork

Opss…. I asked for more one-pot meal

IMG_6994

had it with a soup made with tomato and spinach

IMG_6995

I’m loving rice with soup lately. I’m not usually a soup person, but I’ve been asking for more soup to mom lately! Sometime, I even feel I can’t have a meal without soup. 🙂

IMG_6996

After that meal, I had 2 times of this: 1 bowl of one-pot meal cooked with shredded chinese cabbage and chili sauce (菜泡饭). I’m in love of this combo!!! I had at least 5 times over the last two weeks and still want more.

Eats and ramblings

I haven’t post homemade food for a while due to lack of creativity and energy to cook. These two breakfast combos are the most elaborated meals of the last 10 days. Yes, I know…  it’s lamentable for a food-blogger to be food-interest-less 😦 But… that’s life. Prioritizing is a way to survive.

Combo 1: oatbran + 3 sides

store-bought seaweed salad

IMG_0464.JPG

store-bought kimchi

IMG_0465.JPG

steamed yam

IMG_0467.JPG

love how sweet and dense it is 🙂

IMG_0476.JPG

Combo 2: purple oatbran + seaweed + poached egg

IMG_0497.JPG

remember that I got purple cauliflower? It tastes pretty much the same as white cauliflower but its color makes it fun to play with

I broiled it for 10 min

IMG_0487.JPG

then blended it to the cooked oatbran

IMG_0488.JPG

the result: purple oatbran 😆

IMG_0490.JPG

poached egg with ketchup and basil

YUM YUM~~~

IMG_0509.JPG

and let me introduce you my latest favorite dark chocolate that I found in Whole Food.

IMG_0446.JPG

It is extra-bitter and I love it! 😀 A copious amount of it has became my daily dosis of anxiety-killer!

Ramblings:

I just came back from a mock interview that is supposed to help me on real interviews that I’ll have (hopefully) in January. But I feel it did more harm than help. 😦 Why? Because it made me feel less confident about myself, about my thesis and about my ability to communicate my ideas to others. 😦 I wonder… how much more can I do to improve?  A lot 😦 How many more stress and sleepless nights can I bear? Not much more! I’m reaching my limit.

I know I can give more of myself, I know I can do more to improve, I know that I can practice more, I know ….

But I also know that my mental and physical health come first, I know that I seriously need to take a break before I start to hate what I do.

Okay… two more days and I’m done ! Wish me luck to have enough breath to survive until Thursday!

Q1: What’s your latest favorite breakfast combo?

Q2: Any tip for job interviews?

Panic attack & a new breakfast combo

I had a PANICK ATTACK this morning!!! 😯 A very serious one! I wanted to dig a hole and stay there for a week! 😯

The combination of hating clutter in my computer and being disorganized is almost an insurance to LOSE important files in important moments! 👿 I’m a week away from presenting my job market paper and I realized this morning that I mis-deleted some IMPORTANT files! :opss: I deleted them PERMANENTLY, even those that were in the backup disk! 👿 I really wanted to kill myself. I called Star crying… I text msg Maggie desperate, I even call a file-recovery company to see if there is any solution.

BUT…… I found the rescue…. I realized that I’ve sent a copy of all the files to myself like months ago! 😆

Lesson learned: NEVER EVER DELETE ANYTHING!!!!

*******

Now to the more happy note of this post. I made a new breakfast combo that I LOVE 😀

IMG_9452.JPG

Ingredients: 1 medium yam, 1 fage 0%, 2 figs and homemade coconut butter

IMG_9441.JPG

cut everything in bite size

IMG_9447.JPG

stir the coconut butter. I added additional coconut oil to make it really smooth

IMG_9450.JPG

assembled 😀

IMG_9455.JPG

each bite is scrumptious!!!

Last night Savanna came to sleepover and we went for dinner to my new favorite restaurant in the neighbor

DSCN0253.JPG

I had a oriental tofu and triple color slaw with a miso-ponzu sauce

DSCN0257.JPG

served with bread

DSCN0260.JPG

and Savanna had open faced sandwich with avocado and turkey (?)

DSCN0262.JPG

We both enjoyed our meal but not satisfied 100% until we had this: Mini duo mousse

DSCN0263.JPG

DSCN0264.JPG

Delicious~~~~ Love the texture and the slightly bitter taste.

Finally… I need your help. Can you help me on organizing this cord-mess?

IMG_9473.JPG

two cameras chargers, data cords, cellphone chargers and 3 laptops chargers. I don’t know how to organize them? How do you organize all these cords?
