Day -2! I’m nervous

2 days away from my first Half Marathon!!! ๐Ÿ˜† I’m excited and nervous! Excitement was 80% until I saw these:

I can’t believe that I have to end it up with a HILL!!!! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ That’s not good!!!


can this get WORSE? RAIN? Seriously???? I’ve been checking weather since Monday and was crossing my finger that it changes. But apparently not! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ Now you understand where my nerve comes from, right? I’m worried and a little bit scared. ย But the good thing is that Star will be cheering me up and I’ll be running with my best friend Agustin (he already run 5-6 halfs before), my advisor (who’s >50 yrs old and run >10 races before) and Beth!!! That’s exciting!!! ๐Ÿ˜†

Well… at this stage, I I can’t do much other than eat and sleep well today. ๐Ÿ˜‰


Now let’s rewind to yesterday’s eats. Appetite is not visiting me lately ๐Ÿ˜ฆ so I had to be extra creative ๐Ÿ˜‰

After reading Emily’s post, I decided to make zucchini “noodles” for lunch

nuke in the microwave for 2 minutes. Top it with homemade sweet potato gnocchis


parmesan cheese is a MUST!

I worked at home until 3 PM when I started to lose focus. So, I went to Caribou Cafe just crossing the street (so good to be living in a city ย ;)). Worked there until 6 PM when hunger kicked in ๐Ÿ˜‰ so I went to WF (a block away) to pick something to snack

I don’t mind when it’s not thick or creamy as long as it tastes good

I looked at the fridge and saw this chinese winter melon. Need to use it!

Today is going to be an easy day. Star is coming back home in about 30 min… we’ll do groceries (I have a chinese meal feast to prepare tomorrow for his new co-workers) and mainly relax and enjoy each other’s company! ๐Ÿ˜€

A fun spinning class, A review & Easy chinese food

Yesterday I went to a spinning class at the gym that confirmed how fancy is my gym ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have you heard of RealRyder? A spinning bike that moves? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ It is a spin bike that moves side to side, which mimics banking a turn on a road bike. Learning how to make the bike lean to left and right was a bit challenging but the true challenge is when you stand up and pedal while trying to keep the bike relatively centered. The side-to-side movement of the bike feels almost like riding on the road.ย I was working way harder than normal spinning class. In 45 min I was all sweat and could feel my abs and arms working a lot more.ย If you have a chance to try one, I highly recommend it. It’s a lot of fun! ๐Ÿ˜€

It does not have a strong taste like Amazing Grass, which is good because I prefer to have smoothies with the taste of the ingredients. In term of benefits? Sounds promising but I’ll have to let you know in about a month or so (if I can remember taking it everyday ;))

Simple chinese food.

The chinese food that is served in restaurants is unhealthy and time consuming to prepare it. Furthermore, it’s not the real chinese food that chinese people eat at home. What we have then? Here’s an example of food that is healthy, simple and tasty ๐Ÿ™‚

Chinese green bean and garlic (fresh garlic please!)


cut it by hand


neutral oil, minced garlic


Stir-fry for 1-2 min, add salt, 1/2 cup of water, cook covered at medium for 5 min and it’s done!


To make steamed egg I used 1 whole egg + 1 egg white, salt


hydrated dry scallops (optional)


For 1-2 eggs, add about 1/2 cup water, 1/2 tsp salt. Steam for 15 min






I don’t like plain white rice so I made a mix of black rice, rolled oats and some unripped kabocha



dinner was served in <20 min ๐Ÿ˜€
