Woman in the news. Wooo!!

That was my reaction when my friend send me an article that was in Argentinean’s most important newspaper yesterday! My name appeared here!!! 😯 Β How that happened????? Well… that article was written by my co-author and he mentioned our latest work. But the surprise didn’t stop there. I entered my name in google, searched for news and I found more news with my name in it! Korea Times, Brazilian website , chinese blog and US website!!! 😯 It was just OVERWHELMING!!!

I couldn’t hide my excitement and began to call my friends and family! I was shocked, shocked by happiness!!! πŸ˜† And what made me the happiest is the way I knew about it. It was sent by the parents of my best friend (who’s in the program too) from ARgentina, they even sent me an email to congrats me!!! That was soooo sweet and kind! I can’t express how much that act made me happy, even more than the news thing itself. You know, jealousy is in human nature, I’m skeptical and pessimist about people sometimes, so I wouldn’t expect them to be truly happy for me, but they did and I can feel their sincerity. πŸ˜€ I’m so thankful to achieve this little success, and even more when I have friends who are truly happy for my success. That’s so valuable!

But at night, after the hype I entered in doubt. Maybe I shouldn’t spread the words to everyone I know, because not everyone will be happy for me, they might think I’m showing off myself, they might be jealous or simply they might not feel so happy about it. Let’s face the truth, not everyone is generous, kind and be really happy for others’ success. I probably should only share my happiness/success with my closest family and friends.

Q: What do you think? Should I tell to everyone? or should I reserve it to closest friends and families?

Back to normal posting! food and groceries! πŸ˜‰

After days of eating out, I craved simple meals like this oatmeal cooked with soy milk, flaxmeal, topped with apricot preserve and more flaxmeal.

Groceries & New ingredients

Sunday afternoon was nice and relaxing: went to Hela for the facial, introduced Tj’s to my friend (I can’t believe there’s no Tj’s in Chicago) and tried some new ingredients. πŸ™‚

I started my day with this combo (Sarah: I couldn’t find frozen blueberries, otherwise you’ll see a bowl identical to yours)

IMG_5194.JPG

topping was Kaia sprouted sunflower seeds (garlic and sea salt flavor).

IMG_5195.JPG

Love the combo! I think oatmeal is finally back to my life! πŸ˜†

New ingredient:

IMG_5197.JPG

well…. black fungus is not new for me, but maybe for some of you

IMG_5198.JPG

dry shitake mushrooms hydrated.

IMG_5199.JPG

you can find these in asian markets

IMG_5201.JPG

this is the new ingredient: dried rolled bean curb.

IMG_5202.JPG

It’s not completely new for me because it’s a common ingredient in China, but I haven’t had it for a long time and almost forgot how good it is.

IMG_5203.JPG

ingredient list? really short! πŸ™‚

I made a stir-fry soba noodles with them and broccoli.

IMG_5208.JPG

Delish as all stir-fry soba noodles that I’ve tried so far! πŸ˜€

This week’s groceries.

IMG_5215.JPG

I got Arthur King’s white whole wheat flour because I’m going to make BREAD this week! πŸ˜‰

New items: goat cheese and prosciutto! 😯 I don’t know how they ended up in my cart… kind of random… but it’s always fun to try new things, right? πŸ˜‰

New ingredient (courtesy of Foodbuzz Festival last year, I bet many of you have this too).

IMG_5223.JPG

IMG_5225.JPG

I used it to bake salmon in addition to the usual cooking wine, soy sauce, brown sugar and sea salt.

IMG_5229.JPG

IMG_5237.JPG

It’s an exotic flavor, very interesting. But I think I need to add more of it next time.

IMG_5240.JPG

For the boy, I made him a japanese meal: roasted pork as I did here

IMG_5231.JPG

soba noodles following this method

IMG_5232.JPG

Maggie, tell Bobby that I’d make this meal for him when you come to visit me πŸ™‚

IMG_5233.JPG

I think the boy liked it! πŸ˜‰

IMG_5235.JPG

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was loaded with work but I got some good sleep, so it was recharging anyway.

March is here. This month will be challenging for me but I’ll do my best to keep stress level under control! πŸ™‚

Q1: What’s your goal of march?

Q2: Favorite chicken recipe?

Groceries madness

Yesterday I finished work pretty early, around 4PM, so I went to FOUR groceries stores to replenish my fridge and pantry πŸ˜†

IMG_4983.JPG

IMG_4977.JPG

I got Silk soy milk because I had coupons for it

IMG_4978.JPG

IMG_4979.JPG

IMG_4980.JPG

see the brown rice flour? that’s for this week’s dim sum making πŸ˜‰

IMG_4981.JPG

yes! I got FOUR package of lotus powder, because last week I finished 1 package in ❀ days! πŸ˜€

That’s a lot of groceries right? Don’t worry, I’ll finish them all! πŸ˜‰

Look my work station. To avoid neck pain, I put two thick books underneath mac so I can look straight to the computer.

IMG_4976.JPG

oh… that was my lunch. Another stir-fry green tea noodles and an economist’s must read!

IMG_4974.JPG

it’s actually a cleaning the fridge kind of meal

IMG_4967.JPG

I’ve never tried oikos vanilla flavor so yesterday when I saw it in WF $4 for four of them, I couldn’t resist.

IMG_4985.JPG

IMG_4988.JPG

the verdict? It’s BAD :(…. the tastes bad and the after taste in my mouth is even worse. I couldn’t finish it 😦

I wasn’t hungry at all for dinner (too much dark chocolate with sea salt) so I made something that I haven’t had for a long time. Steamed broccoli and brussel sprouts with tomato sauce, topped with both nutritional yeast and parmesan.

YUM~~~ πŸ˜€
