Food: dinners and KABOCHA is back!

Dinners had to be quick because I was always tired when I got home, just wanted to eat and visit my couch!

#1: oatmeal, veggie tofu stir-fry

IMG_7466

this one has celery, black fungus, tofu, oyster mushroom, seasoned with tamari and sesame oil.

IMG_7465

#2: Tortilla pizzas, chopped tomato

IMG_7480

#3 porridge and spicy-sour cabbage

IMG_7507

cabbage sautéed with oyster mushroom, black fungus, seasoned with chinese vinegar and spicy sauce

IMG_7508

#4 Wonton! Let me show you how I made it. My mom prepared the filling before she left so I just need to wrap them

IMG_7492

used this seaweed soup for the base

IMG_7488

put the wonton in boiling water, cook for about 3-4 min

IMG_7494

prepare the soup, add more seaweed and boiled romaine lettuce for extra veggies

IMG_7496

top with tons of white pepper. The whole dish wouldn’t be the same without white pepper!

IMG_7497

#5: porridge, celery salad and soy bean pancake

IMG_7526

For the salad I simply boiled celery and dressed with tamari, vinegar, sesame oil and 1 tsp sugar.

Yummy pancakes!!!

And the biggest NEWS is KABOCHA IS BACK TO MY LIFE!!! After not having it for over 5 months (pregnancy aversion), I finally love it again!

IMG_7481

Every night I had a bowl of roasted kabocha for dessert, sooooo good! I don’t think I like it steamed yet (as I used to) but I do love cinnamon roasted kabocha. It reminded me grad-student life, when every night Kabocha was my companion. 😉

I still can’t eat steamed corn. I had it once and felt nausea afterwards. I guess the 5 packages that I have in the freeze have to wait a bit longer. 🙂

Q: Have you reunited with any of your past food love recently?

Food: dinner

First let me show you what I cooked for Star and Adam last Sunday

IMG_7349

the usual suspects: red sauced pork

IMG_7345

bok choy. According to Star, I made the most delicious sautéed bok choy in the world, and I don’t even know my secret! 😉

IMG_7346

pork short ribs and chinese yam soup

IMG_7347

sauteed mushrooms with pork and chili

IMG_7348

I instead made myself a macrobiotic meal: chopped lettuce, tomato, tofu, butternut squash, brown rice and miso paste

IMG_7351

and a soup made with daikon, arame and parsley.

IMG_7369

IMG_7370

IMG_7371

IMG_7372

#6

IMG_7386

stir-fry couscous with celery and smoked tofu, seasoned with S+P and curry powder

IMG_7388

sauteed bok choy with mushrooms

IMG_7389

My sautéed method: heat sesame oil, add the vegetables, cook for 1-2 min, add shoyo, mirin and pinch of sugar. Add some water if needed, cook for another 1-2 min and serve. Sometimes I would top some roasted sesame seeds as well. A true asian flavor! 🙂

Q: Do you use sautéed method? What’s your favorite sautéed dish?

Food: dinners at home

The weather has been warm, almost like summer so all I wanted was fresh veggies! Everyday in the afternoon, I’d call my mom and tell her what I want for dinner and she’ll prepare them for me! What a great mom she is! 🙂 Unfortunately she’s leaving next weekend. She needs a break in China and she will come back before the baby arrives! 🙂

Sauteed celery with black fungus and smoked tofu

IMG_7139

cucumber salad with garlic

IMG_7141

winter melon, tomato and bamboo soup

IMG_7142

sauteed noodles with brussel sprouts, onion, mushrooms and tofu

IMG_7147

sauteed cauliflower with mushrooms, carrot and pork

IMG_7148

curry chicken with potatoes

IMG_7149

sauteed greens with garlic

IMG_7150

And wonton’s are back!!! Yes! I asked my mom to make like 10 packages for me to be freezed so I can have them when she’s not here! 🙂 They’re so delicious!!!
