Farmer’s market & Macro platter recreated

You probably already know about this article by Marie Claire and read opinions about it all over the blog-world, so I will make this short. Since I identify myself as a healthy-living blogger as well, I feel the need to express my thoughts about the matter.

  • The article is way too harsh to these ladies. Although I don’t read all of them now, at certain point in time, I did read them regularly and I met most of them in person. They’re real and nice. Only mean people will describe them like the article did.
  • Although too harsh, the article has some truth. But the truth about triggering ED and responsibilities that bloggers should take applies ALSO to any health magazine or media in general. Β It’s a paternalist way of thinking to ban or force providers of the info to be responsible of the info instead of making the reader responsible of the info they choose to take.
  • Personally, I don’t post about what I eat everyday (I did it before) because it’s troublesome and it’s not the aim of this blog anymore. Different people need in different point of time different inspirations. Some of them needs detail guidance about eating so they find reading food diary helps them to know what to do/eat. Others who is also interested in other topics might find food diary blogs boring and prefer a blog that talks about other things in life. It’s a matter of preference, and preference is just preference, it’s not good or bad.

okay. moving into farmer’s market that I went on Sunday in Dupont Circle.

the macro platter that I had on Saturday was really good and it seems easy to make. So I tried to recreate it at home.

Ingredients for the carrot ginger dressing (Maggie asked the waiter): carrot (1/2 lb), ginger (1 inch), garlic (3 clove), onion (1/2 small), olive oil (1/4 cup) and salt.

blend everything and voila!

I wouldn’t say it’s as good as Good Health‘s, but it was pretty good. πŸ™‚

Coco’s macro platter: couscous, seaweed salad made with miso and tahini, aduki beans, roasted corn squash and broiled greens.

Face the fear!

Yesterday I mentioned that a news from a friend shocked me and pissed me off (about myself). I’m happily to say that I overcame it! How? Basically, talk to people, be with people and be open minded! I won’t go into details about what happened. But what I think it worths sharing is that if you keep making stories in your head and be alone, you’ll never get out from the vicious cycle! Instead, be brave, face your fear (in my case to meet with my friend), talk to them, express your feelings and LISTEN to others with heart, be in their shoes and all the crowd in your head will clear out. I did that, I met with my friend and we talked for almost 3 hours. I was enlightened by the end and felt that our friendship is even stronger. πŸ˜€ What a great feeling!!! πŸ˜†

Other news:

bad: sleep is bad… (3-4AM is a normal day, 5AM is a good day).

good: I met with my advisor and finally my dissertation structure is defined. πŸ˜‰ The next two months will be intense!

Yesterday I opened a new bag of tea: Choco-Menthe

I still have a lot left from my tea purchase in SF with Maggie

After meeting my friend and advisor, I came home, happy and wanted comfort food! Which was a stir-fry of veggies & tofu. Heather and Maggie would agree with meΒ πŸ˜‰
