Pregnancy: preparing for the baby

My mom arrived on Thursday night. She will be taking care of me and Sofia! She’s super excited for becoming grand-ma and we’re glad she’s here. ๐Ÿ™‚ Star’s parents will arrive in 2 weeks. It’s going to be a full house…. all to welcome our beloved little girl Sofia. ๐Ÿ™‚

This weekend was mainly dedicated to prepare for Sofia’s arrival = assembling!!!

Star assembled the stroller, baby jogger city mini, a gift from our dear friend Sarah and Bami.ย He also went to get the car seat installed. A friend gave us their Chicco carseat with the adapter for the stroller. So, we’re really ready to head to the hospital and bring Sofia back!!

For the first 4-6 weeks, we plan to have Sofia sleeping in our master room for easier night feeding. According to chinese tradition, women are not supposed to move around for the first 4 weeks because we’ll be really week physically. They recommend stay-in-bed for 2 weeks, none physical activity, no cold shower, no cold drink, and eat a menu of nutritious food that helps the recovery.

I decided not to have a bassinet because I want to transfer Sofia to her room as soon as possible, so a Pack n’ Play would do the trick.

Star also assembled the fisher price bouncer

and ย the Fisher Price swing

both are beyond cute!!!! Sofia is such a lucky girl to have so many toys to play with!!! ๐Ÿ˜† That’s another advantage of living in the US, things for babies are in reasonable price, and that we have plenty of room to put them! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nursery is almost done… I still need to get some frames and prepare the diaper station. Pictures soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Crossing few more items from the to-do list!

  • Choose a pediatrician. We went two places and decided to go with Northern Virginia Pediatric Associates. We liked the place, the doctors and that is 10 min away from home.
  • Buy things for postpartum – got 4 nursing bras, nursing pads (disposable and reusable)
  • Buy and install car seat and have it inspected

To-do list (plan to do all these next weekend)

  • Prepare diaper station
  • Pack hospital bag
  • Finish nursery decor
  • Wash everything new
  • Decide on the breastpump. I’m between the Medela In Style Advanced and Freestyle.

ALMOST THERE!!! :D
