Travel: Zanzibar day 3 & Dar Salam

On day 3 we went to another part of the island to see Dolphins and to do snookering.

8 of us got one of these small boats and went out in search of dolphins

we saw many many dolphins swimming around us. Unfortunately we didn’t catch any with our camera. But it was really cool to see them in their natural habit! πŸ™‚

It was a windy and cold morning. Look the sky, a tender storm seemed approaching.

look our experienced pilot. He knew what it was doing because we saw a bunch of dolphins right away while other boats didn’t see any in hours. πŸ™‚

Unfortunately we didn’t do snookering because there was no peaceful water close to the beach. Instead, we went back early and some of us (Sarah, Martine and I) went to Stone Town again for a spa session. I even got Henna! πŸ™‚

The next day we took a boat to Dar Salam to catch our night flight. Well, that was the plan

The two hours boat ride was terrible! The waves were huge and the boat was tossing out. Most of people vomited on the boat, including Sarah and Estelle. I never vomited on a boat ride, but I was really really close! 😦 Really unpleasant ride.

Anyway… we got into Dar Salam. It was fun how we got our luggage. There was no luggage tag on it, so the porters on the boat jut throw them around and people has to “fight” against each other to get the luggage. Quite an adventure by itself! πŸ™‚

After lunch, we went to a local supermarket to get some coffee, honey and cashew.

I put my new t-shirt on. It’s a Kili t-shirt saying “Just done it!”

Take a look of our mini bus, it’s called tester and it has some funny prints on it!

we did some shopping. I got an african painting which I love. πŸ™‚

we had dinner at the port. delicious calamari and grilled whole fish.

Then, the real adventure began. Catch a flight!

We arrived 2.5 hrs before departure time.

quite happy to finally go home!

well… not that night. It turned out that the flight was overbooked and three of us (Sarah, Estelle and I) were left out! 😯

After arguing, complaining until midnight, we finally got the ticket of the same fly the next day. It was funny that the agent even offered us to go to Dubai first and then, maybe a trip around the world before going to DC! 😯 Sarah asked him :” do you see in our ticket that we booked to fly to Dubai?” Hhahaha…. I can’t help to laugh when I remind the “are you kidding me” face of Sarah when she asked.

And then we got to Holiday Inn. But the hotel didn’t have power! :opss:

they were doing check-in with a candle! 😯 pathetic!!!

The next 24 hrs were spent between naps (3 in a day), reading and reading whenever we had power. We were at 9th floor, so even going to eat was a lot of work!

Luckily we got into the flight the next day and we were safely back to DC, with power! πŸ™‚

End of Tanzania trip series. Greece is next! πŸ˜€
