Food: eating out Saturday

Due to lack of food at home (empty fridge!) and my cook-laziness, we eat out twice a day on Saturday.

For lunch we went to Rice. After that visit with Maggie and Bobby, it became our to-go restaurant in our neighbor for a quick meal.

Since then we always order the same appetizers.

For me: veggie soup with silken tofu

For Star: chicken soup

As entree, I had thai stir-fry veggies with basil and fried tofu

that came with black rice which was super chewy (love it!)

Star had shrimp spaghetti with bacon

Afternoon was spent at the gym and an 2 hour nap, preparing for a formal dinner at Taberna del Alabardero. Washingtonian Magazine restaurant critic Robert Shoffner calls it “The best Spanish restaurant in the Country”.

For five of us we ordered 3 appetizers

Dry Tuna with Garlic, Olive Oil and Pistachio Sauce served with Salty Tomato and Crunchy Bread

Jamon Iberico

Grilled Fresh Vegetables over Green Asparagus Creamy Sauce and topped with a Local Farmer Poached Egg

Star and Adam shared a Lobster Paella

I “steal” half of the lobster from his plate 😉

our guest had Angus Beef Tenderloin in a Mushroom Sauce served with Broiled Potato stuffed with Cheese

the other guest and I had Codfish Comfit server over a bed of Creamy Potato Pure, Grilled Octopus, Sea Salt and Paprika

it was the best codfish I’ve ever had!!!

Star was too full to have dessert, so I had this Mixed Egg Cream Custard with Mascarpone and Orange Sorbet for myself

It was delicious, so creamy and not too sweet!

Adam had Egg Yolk Custard with Rosemary essence topped with Yogurt Ice-Cream

and the guests shared Peach Ragout in a Light Coffee Syrup with Cream Custard topped with a Magdalene

It was an amazing meal and great conversation. We learned things about NIH, how they do experiments to schizophrenia patient. Interesting 😉

Sunday will a busy day, climbing and frisbee. Got to run! Have a great Sunday you too! 🙂
