The missing virtue & A review

The first and most difficult virtue for me to cultivate now is PATIENCE. I don’t have it and I never saw it as a problem. Well…. it caught me finally. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ As my research progress, I’m builder bigger models so code running time takes longer and longer. When I complain to my friends that it takes between 30 min – 2 hours to run every time and that I’m very annoyed, they laugh at me!

“is that long? oh.. please! Mine usually takes hours if not days”.

“What?? Seriously? What do you do meanwhile?”

“I don’t know… something else”

“But I need to know the result, I can’t do anything else but I need to know the result!!!”

“yes, we all want to know the result, but it is what it is. You have to get used to it”

Nooooo! I refuse to get used to waste my time, I refuse to snack all day long because of the anxiety, I refuse to depend on a piece of machine my whole day. Bottom line: I refuse to cultivate the missing virtue, Patience.

What to do?

#1: ย keep this way that drives me crazy

#2: Try to be patient by doing something else while the program is running, either work related or just read a good book (since I have a big pile to choose from)

I’m choosing #2. We’ll see how I’ll do today! ๐Ÿ˜‰

——————————

Yesterday for breakfast I finally tried OIAJ. Can you believe that it was my first time? I always just scrap the bottle and throw it away.

That’s the new Chilean President, a harvard-trained economist.

the weird thing about OIAJ is that the bottle was deformed at the end. Maybe because of the heat.

I wasn’t hungry for lunch because of massive snack: all carbs and chocolates ๐Ÿ˜ฆ so I felt needing balancing out with veggies. I made a stir-fry of tofu, black bean, brown rice and baby spinach, but seasoned too much so it was too salty ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

what to do? Wraps were the rescue

it was funny and yummy~~~ I’ll have more wraps today ๐Ÿ˜‰

oh…. I tried Gina’s puffy egg white with spicy sauce too.

It was okay, not a super fan.

Review of Coconut Bliss Ice Cream. The lovely Kiley fromย Luna & Larryโ€™s Organic Coconut Bliss was kind enough to send me coupons for pints of theirย coconut milk-based ice cream to review for the blog. From their website:

People are continually asking us how we came up with Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss. We’d like to say we are entrepreneurial geniuses, but the truth is much humblerโ€”we just wanted a tasty frozen dessert that we could enjoy eating without feeling bad afterwards. We had both given up dairy for health and ethical reasons, and tried all the soy- and rice-based alternatives, but weren’t satisfied with any of them. They either didn’t taste good, or we felt sick after eating them, or they had a long list of ingredients that didn’t really sound like food. One day Luna said ‘what about coconut milk?’ย  We’d used it a lot in Thai-style cooking and it seemed ideal. It was naturally rich and creamy and had great nutritional properties. So with the aid of a two-dollar hand-cranked ice cream maker from Goodwill we made our first batch. As soon as we tried it, we knew we were on to something special. As time went by and we shared it with our friends, who also loved it, it became apparent to us that we should focus our energy on this and make it available to more people.

I picked Naked Coconut at WF

Coco’s review: Nutritionally speaking I like this because it’s high in fat and low in sugar! And taste-wise, it’s AMAZING! ย It tastes like the freshly made coconut ice cream. It’sย rich and creamy but without butter, eggs or heavy cream for a delicious taste. I love it! 5/5 Strongly recommended! ๐Ÿ™‚

Lastly, I started reading this book, another one about happiness! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ll keep you guys updated.

maybe I’ll read this when the code runs today ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. I LOVE Coconut Bliss!!!

I have trouble being patient, too. It’s hard to wait and see how things unfold…

Have a great weekend, Coco! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. hehe, if you are doing my programming – probably you not only need patience, but also a strong heart – the result is not ideal after 2 days of code running! that’s like normal thing to me already ๐Ÿ™‚ that’s your career and have to get use to it!
the puffy egg looks very interesting – I need to get rid of my eggs asap – they have been sitting there for more than 3 weeks!

  3. I think the puff is better with a whole egg!

    Mine is also patience ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  4. I need to be more patient too, Coco…definitely something I need to work on. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ve heard so many good things about Coconut Bliss…I need to try it!

  5. Like you, I have never been a patient person. And that is a toughie when you have 2 high energy kids. *sigh*

That ice cream sounds pretty good!

  6. I think I am a patient person, but I definitely I’m not a calm want. I burst in flames in a minute. I have to work on that ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. I LOVE Coconut bliss. Mmm, think I need to pick some up today.

My missing virtue – would definitely have to be patience as well. Which leads to difficulty relaxing and stress! Something I’m always working on ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. lesouefsbrouilles

ooo that stirfry looks sooo good. you’re the stirfry queen coco!

  9. Anita

It’s tough waiting for results but you’re not wasting time if you accomplish something else while waiting. Just try to get your mind off of your models and do something else (exercise, cook, finish other work, listen to music, watch a movie, anything else really). What are you trying to model, btw?

I think I”ve too many missing virtues, lol. Probably being self-confident and self-care.

  11. Thanks for the info on the Coconut Bliss IC–sounds fantastic!

  12. Patience is super hard for me, too. If there’s truly nothing you can do to speed up the process, I’d say enjoy the extra free time! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. HA! Coco, you and I are the same. I have NO patience too! In fact, I even get impatient during exams…I rush through the questions and make many careless mistakes!

  14. I love Coconut Bliss! It’s very, very tasty.

    I lack patience, too. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

    Jenn

  15. Yes, I’ve learned I can only put OIAJ in a glass jar, otherwise I get worried it’s just going to melt right into my oats! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. thedelicateplace

i pride myself on being very efficient so when something takes longer than expected and/or i run into a problem i get easily frustrated! patience is sometimes with me and other times notably absent! i’ve never had OIAJ either but that coconut ice cream looks wonderful! must try that asap!

  17. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the Naked Coconut, and will gladly take 5 stars!
    Thanks Coco!
