Q: Do they treat you as semi-God with …?

A student of my mini-course just wrote me an email and asked me the following question:how do you feel now in Argentina, with your Uni mates etc. Do they treat you like a semi god because of your future PhD?. My answer to that was basically: “no, absolutely not. It’s actually much further away from it because as I learn more I realize how little I know.
This just reminds me what I often read in blogs and don’t like much. Not all of them, but sometimes I feel that some people, when they succeed in getting what they wanted (either weight loss or other thing) act like they know the clue of everything. What works to them doesn’t mean will work for everyone because everyone’s body is different and everyone’s lifestyle is different too. I really appreciate bloggers that explicitly state that (for example Veggiegirl does it several times in her sweet video posts. Check out her latest post and send her some hugs) before giving advice. Because maybe only few leaves comments in blogs, but most readers don’t, so what we say in blogs affect people and maybe more than we think.

What’s your thought  about it?

Okay. Too serious talk here. Let’s relax a little bit by seeing what a typical foodie day for Coco in Argentina looks like! Yeah~~ BE JEALOUS! 😛

  1. Yes, completely – as I learn more I realize how ignorant I am!

And I agree about bloggers thinking that they know the secret to “health” or whatever the case may be. It’s… frustrating, to say the least. It’s very off putting.

I signed up – did you??

  2. I agree about both blogging and professions. The more you learn the more you realize you know very little.

I may be a lawyer but man do I feel clueless sometimes! lol 😛

And I may have lost a lot of weight but everyday is a struggle. I think to pretend otherwise would be a complete lie.

Whether in my professional life or in my wellness journey – everyday is a challenge and an opportunity to learn more! 🙂

  3. I agree. Only we hold the key to our happiness and successes. I’ve read some blogs that have gone from inspirational to preachy and I just don’t have the time for them anymore. I know that I’m not in my 20’s anymore, I have 2 kids, a husband, a job and a house to look after. I can not just pick up and exercise whenever I feel like it nor can I always cook exactly what I want. And that’s OK because this is the point I am at in my life. Thanks for the topic!

  4. Interesting topic of discussion. I had not really thought about it before. I think when I write about dieting/eating healthy/weight etc. I don’t really think about the fact that others may get offended by what I say, or take it the wrong way…but I Think you are totally correct on that. I’ve read several blogs that make it seem so easy to eat healthy, loose weight, etc. when in reality it isn’t easy and it may be easier for them than for someone else. Good point, I’ll think about that more often.

The food all looks wonderful, as always. I had no idea there was a food blogger festival! I wish I could go, but my funds are dwindling fast 😦

  5. mmm the cream cheese spread and the dish with the mushroom sauce? kill me now, as long as i can be reincarnated as someone who lives in argentina 😉 “What works to them doesn’t mean will work for everyone because everyone’s body is different and everyone’s lifestyle is different too.” props to that, i couldn’t agree more. i saw VGs video and LOVED her honesty in it. i want to go to san fran! are you going? i would only want to go if others i “knew” went.

  6. hmmm. When I write, all I want to do is share! I really have a lot of love and pride for the food i eat, and I love learning from other people. I also try not to share too much private information to protect myself! I think that is getting more and more important as I see many bloggers being harassed and insulted by random people online. It’s so unfair, so mean, and unecessary.

This weekend is boring for me! Just meeting a ton of friends! I am moving to my own apartment next week, so if you ever visit Chicago again, you are welcomed to visit me in my new home!!!! 🙂

  7. I’ve always assumed that I don’t know a lot. It’s actually a little frightening how little I know relative to what’s out there! I didn’t sign up for SF…not sure I can get away during the semester–so much work all the time!

  8. Ahhh, wish I were in Argentina having a foodie day with you, Coco! 🙂

People ask me the same thing (but for a Masters degree). They think I must be super smart or something, but I always tell them that if anything, I feel dumber because I realize how much I don’t know!

The rest of this weekend = church, studying, and trying to enjoy the outdoors!

I went to an outdoor yoga session in the park that you would have loved!
