Food: playing around

From time to time I feel lost in term of what to eat. I don’t want the same thing anymore (chao stir-fries), I want something exciting, fun, new, tasty and filling food to eat. So creativity and imagination (both that I’m not good at) come to play.

Since last week salad I’m hooked with avocado. I picked 4 large avocados last week and every morning the first thing I do is to check whether another one is ripped :shock:

For breakfast I’ve been having either this

I made a batch of black rice, aduki beans and barley. So I’d either add white fungus or simply avocado.

Both are YUM~

As meal, I’ve been having spinach cannelloni. For the sauce I used 1/3 cup pumpkin puree, 2 tbsp nutrtional yeast and 2 tbsp of milk.

Love this meal~~~ :) It’s so easy (just heat the frozen cannelloni and make the sauce, 5 min top) and so tasty!

Last weekend Star and I went to the farmer’s market. I’m so happy to see more fresh produce! I got a bunch of greens.

soft boiled egg (insert the egg into boiling water for 1-2 min, turn off the heat, cover and wait for 3 min more)

I said I’m obsessed with avocado but you only saw it in breakfast once. How come? Well… I’ve been eating a lot of salad, all massaged with 1/2 large avocado. For the dressing, I used miso/pumpkin/tahini/mustard mix. I’m loving the flavor of this dressing.

A salad with fat (avocado and tahini) and protein (salmon) is a full meal. You’d be surprised that a salad can satisfy you so much and for so long (at least 4 hrs).

Being flexible & homemade food

I haven’t post about homemade food for few days. That doesn’t mean I didn’t start cooking. Although not big meals, I slowly started to visit the kitchen more often ;)

Yesterday I worked all day long, first time in 1.5 month :shock: and I was exhausted by the end of the day. Actually after working just two hours, I wanted to quit, but I wouldn’t allow my laziness to pull me back, so I made this wonderful coffee and continued. I ended up working until 5 PM planning to go to the gym at 6.15PM, but laying down on the coach for 30 min convinced me to take a day off. Although I knew I’d feel better after working out, I just didn’t feel like going and preferred stay at home with Star and watch TV. I’m glad I learned to be flexible with myself. Being highly disciplined also means highly inflexible and it is not always a good thing. :)

My weekend started on Friday night. After three years of Hiatus… I finally got back to TANGO! :lol:

yes~ don’t be so surprised! I used to dance Tango. I took class and danced regularly for two years! And then.. life got busy and tango was the first thing to go. Just recently, I felt the urge to dance again. At the same time my dance partner asked me if I want to dance again ;) Such a coincidence! So this Friday was my debut and it was so much fun! :lol:

Saturday: groceries and “the next three day”.

Sunday: Star and I went to Le pain quotitdien

I finally found purple cauliflowers!!! :D I was jumping around like a kid asking Star if we can get all of them ;)
