Face the fear!

Yesterday I mentioned that a news from a friend shocked me and pissed me off (about myself). I’m happily to say that I overcame it! How? Basically, talk to people, be with people and be open minded! I won’t go into details about what happened. But what I think it worths sharing is that if you keep making stories in your head and be alone, you’ll never get out from the vicious cycle! Instead, be brave, face your fear (in my case to meet with my friend), talk to them, express your feelings and LISTEN to others with heart, be in their shoes and all the crowd in your head will clear out. I did that, I met with my friend and we talked for almost 3 hours. I was enlightened by the end and felt that our friendship is even stronger. πŸ˜€ What a great feeling!!! πŸ˜†

Other news:

bad: sleep is bad… (3-4AM is a normal day, 5AM is a good day).

good: I met with my advisor and finally my dissertation structure is defined. πŸ˜‰ The next two months will be intense!

Yesterday I opened a new bag of tea: Choco-Menthe

I still have a lot left from my tea purchase in SF with Maggie

After meeting my friend and advisor, I came home, happy and wanted comfort food! Which was a stir-fry of veggies & tofu. Heather and Maggie would agree with meΒ πŸ˜‰

my favorite seasoning:

and steamed kabocha to make it even more comforting! πŸ˜‰

I’m glad you’re feeling better now, that’s what matters. πŸ™‚
    That dinner looks so good!

  2. Those veggies look SO good! And congrats on getting a little closer to finishing your dissertation. That’s gotta feel great! πŸ™‚

  3. glad you’re feeling better and got to talk to your friend. getting the anger or frustration out there i think is the best remedy, even if you’re not sure how it’s going to coin out!

  4. Glad to hear things worked out with your friend and you made some positive changes!
    What did you bake??

  5. Glad to hear that you and your friend got to the bottom of things. That must’ve made you feel better!

When I bake I usually replace a 1/4 cup of flour with ground flax.

  6. So glad things worked out with your friend Coco. I hate confrontations, and you’re so right, I’ll just replay stuff over and over in my head, only to make myself more upset. So silly – I need to stop doing that!

Dinner looks perfect. Veggie stir-fry and kabocha…really, does it get much better?

My favorite news magazine is The Week. It is so great – a weekly publication that summarizes everything, and it’s pretty unbiased as well. Gives opinions from both sides on each story.

Favorite flax meal recipe as of late: http://heathereatsalmondbutter.com/recipes/coconut-flour-flax-pancakes/. You could probably sub rolled oats if you don’t have any coconut flour.

Good luck with your dissertation, and I hope you start sleeping better!!!

  7. I love adding flax to muffins, yogurt, or oatmeal/porridge!

  8. oh! welcome to the dissertation group! I just start it last week, and already feel the pinch. it’s getting way too serious and I feel the time is tooooo short !!!

Looks like lots of seasoning for your stir fry!!! there is a newly opened Chinese Grocery Store right on 193. I just went there yesterday and I am 100% sure you will LOVE it!!!

  9. I’m glad you worked things out with your friend. It’s so true, keeping things bottled up inside, and thinking about it over and over just causes stress and gets you nowhere. I feel like guys do that more than girls, they are less able to express their feelings. Maybe I’m wrong.

Glad you met with your adviser and are getting things rolling! That’s very exciting.

I have a lot of flax and I just use it in my oats, on my cereal, in my smoothies, granola, and of course bread (quick bread) recipes! It can be used as a substitute for butter too.

Favorite news magazine? Hmm…I don’t have one. My favorite health magazine is Today’s Dietitian, it’s awesome! You don’t have to be an RD to subscribe.

  10. I’m so glad everything worked out with you and your friend! I agree, being alone is the worst thing to do when you’re upset…thoughts just tend to spiral! It’s amazing that you two are better friends now after talking it out. πŸ™‚

I like to add flax to my oats or cereal.

  11. Glad it all worked out with your friend! Your stir fry looks great! I like adding flax to oats and pancakes!

  12. I’m glad you’re feeling better about things with your friend. Talking always helps.
I usually use flax in porridge, or mixed with water as an ‘egg replacement’ in baking.
I’ve been eating stir-fried veggies and tofu all the time lately, too. So warm and comforting.
Sleep problems are THE WORST. I usually have at least one night per week when I feel like I didn’t get to sleep at all. So horrid. Do whatever you can to sleep enough!
    Take care. πŸ™‚

  13. I’m so glad things are resolved with you and your friend! I love that feeling of being open and it growing into a stronger relationship.
