Groceries madness & recipe!

Hi everyone, how was your Saturday? Weather here in Maryland was gorgeous. We had a great busy day doing groceries (yes, we’re that boring ;)). I hope you did something that you enjoyed too, even it’s just groceries. 😆 We went to Greal Wall, the biggest chinese market in the area, then Costco and finally Whole Food.

Fridge after: mostly fresh produce and fruits.

Freezer: mostly chinese buns for my parents breakfast and frozen veggies.

Guess how much was our groceries bill?

Food wasn’t spectacular because we spent most of the day outside and I didn’t take pic of all the snacks we had on the road.

My friday random concoction was soooo good that I had it again

My parents had steamed crabs

They spent like 1.5 hours to almost finish 3 of them. Crap….. it’s so much work to eat that! I offered to do the cleaning of the kitchen afterward. Such a good daughter, right? 😉

Dinner was tortilla pizza. I haven’t had it for a long time and yesterday when I walked out from the pool (I went to swim, updated in WORKOUT) I suddenly had a craving for cheese, so that I had.

Dessert was the new dark chocolate

What a wonderful day~~~ Very relaxing, spent a lot of time talking to my parents and did a lot of my favorite thing (groceries). Oh… forgot to reveal how much was the bill… $220!!!! 😯 Can you believe it???? I know, that’s insane!!!! But we got a lot of goodies, right? (I usually spend 70-80 by myself)

Few of you asked the recipe for the chocolate chips banana bread, so here it goes
Ingredients
A. 1 cup WW flour, 1/3 cup oat bran, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt
B. 1 egg, 1/4 cup Smart Balance Light spread, 1/4 brown sugar, 1 tbsp vanilla, 2 mashed bananas
C. 2 tbsp chocolate chips
Method
Mix A and B separately and then together add C. Bake 60 min at 350F.

Question: Do you have to work hard to keep the healthy lifestyle or it is already your lifestyle?

  1. I LOVE the Vivani brand of chocolate!! Yum.

    Gorgeous banana breads!!

  2. AMAZING grocery haul! WOW!! I’ve gotten our grocery bill down to about $100 for a week for the two of us… not bad, but not great!

wow that is alot of stuff in the fridge! gotta try that chocolate chip banana bread.

  4. Girl! My friend Y and I are trying out your recipe TODAY! YUMMY! Also…I GOT YOUR PACKAGE! It was one of my highlights of the day. I LOVE the knitted goodies and homemade cards! Did you get your package yet???

  5. I love filling my refrigerator with new, healthy foods! Well at least you ended up getting a lot for your money, right?? I can’t believe you bought crabs! That’s great.
I am used to living my healthy lifestyle by now, and it really wasn’t to hard to start it because I have been eating healthy since I was in the womb 🙂
Regarding your comment on my blog, I have not read the China study, but I know you have mentioned it before so I should get my hands on it!

  6. Love the pic of your fridge filled with all the healthy food… 🙂

Living a healthy life has become a part of who I am. But I do spend a bit too much at times… It’s so easy to go overboard at the grocery store (even though I plan meals and try to be mindful…)…

  7. hey hey! Look at all that fresh produce (yayyyy). I’m all for spending $$ on good/healthy food. I’d rather make cut backs in other areas of my life (clothes, going out, etc). Healthy living feels so natural now, its almost harder to eat bad than good!

  8. Looks like you got some great goodies. Seriously, I would love to eat with you sometime! 🙂

Living a healthy life is/will be a lifelong process for me. I think I have to make conscious choices to eat right and exercise every day. It does get a bit easier as time goes on, but I think it still is something that I have to work on.

Most of the money I spend is on groceries 🙂 Speaking of which, I am hitting up TJs and WFs tomorrow thank goodness. It’s been far too long (less than a week, ha!). Your chocolates are tempting me!

My healthy lifestyle is pretty automatic. I crave healthy foods over unhealthy ones (well, most of the time) and I enjoy exercising so I prioritize it over other parts of my life.

  10. Love all the groceries! And thanks for posting the recipe.

  11. You are stocked UP! 🙂 Lucky you!
Living a healthy lifestyle has definitely become who I am over the past couple of months–at times it’s a bit of a struggle to come out of the store with a reasonable bill and the food I need, but I try to make it work!

  12. I can’t tell you how much I spent on groceries, because I grocery-shop every single day. It can run from $5 all the way to over $20.

GREAT WALL! I miss that place! I always used to go there for the fresh produces.

  13. What a lovely stocked fridge!
The healthy lifestyle is pretty much habit now–I crave veggies and I like exercise!

You always ask such interesting questions! For me, the “healthy lifestyle” is mostly habit these days, but it certainly wasn’t something I was born with, or that I was raised with. It was only in the last couple of years that I started making conscious decisions to live a healthy lifestyle, and over time, it has become a habit 🙂
